The Two Sisters
A genre painting depicting two sisters walking their dog on the terraced garden. Willems has focused attention to the details on the sisters' satin and velvet gowns and the beauty of the peacock and surrounding gardens beyond.

The Artist
Florent Willems was a genre painter born in Liege. He was a pupil at the Mechlin Academy and studied, in particular, the Old Dutch Masters. He was awarded numerous accolades for his work including the Legion of Honour.

Works by Florent Willems are held by the museums of Amsterdam, Anvers, Brussels, Dublin, Vienna, Hamburg and Paris.
