
A still life painting of pale pink and cream roses, together with flame, white
and lilac coloured Primulas lying beneath a mossy bank. A branch of acorns
and small beetle complete this picture of naturalistic beauty.

An English flower and fruit painter, born in Birmingham in 1829. In his early
years he trained as a Japanner, then devoted his work to flower painting in
about 1850.
He exhibited at The Royal Birmingham Society of Artists from 1856 and in London
at The Portland Gallery, The Royal Academy, The British Institution, Suffolk
Street and elsewhere.
