John Absolon was a landscape and figure painter in oil and watercolour. He
studied art at The British Museum and began his career as a portrait artist
and scene painter at Covent Garden.
He first exhibited at Suffolk Street in 1832. Then he went to Paris and upon
his return was elected to The New Society of Painters and Watercolours. Examples
of his work are held by The British Museum and The V&A Museum.
